wasnt there an 80s or 90s band that did a song where the dude singer is kinda whispering but uses the same synth and some of the beat from MGMT's KIDS?

my friend through on MGMT and i told him i swear ive heard the song before as something else years ago.. its not chiddy bang or empire of the sun. its definitely something that came out years ago though...

MGMT borrows a lot from a lot of sources so it's kind of hard to discern sometimes
