Tree of Life (spoilers I guess)
I just need someone to explain to me, how a movie that seemed so deliberate about everything single shot could set up this family with three kids, and yet entirely ignore one of the kids through the whole movie.
The third kid isn't in the future, he isn't the one who dies, but he's in like 3 scenes and I don't understand what purpose he is supposed to have?
I don't know that this movie is bad. It's shot beautifully. There were people crying in the theater. Maybe if you're religious or a Mother some of this would get to you. But I definitely know I never want to see this again.

you mean, you're not eagerly anticipating the 6 hour directors cut?

I actually said, after I got out of the movie, that I wish it played with Director's Commentary.

I don't necessarily want to find anything additionally.
I'm okay with it having been a visually beautiful movie and not having comprehended what the purpose or idea behind the selected shots and story is. I don't feel it's worth looking into it too much probably just because I was so meh about it entirely.
I found the ending throw-away. It did confuse me that the third kid wasn't really in it, but I just went to assume that the story wasn't explicitly explicitly about him, but then again he could have just not been there at all.
I saw Calvaire last night, and found that muuuuch more interesting and layered than Tree of Life. Maybe even "profound" is a better word? I'm only comparing it because it seems like a film (having read around a bit) that has hit similar snags in not explaining things fully, being fairly ambiguous, and leaving viewers a bit confused.
